General Paediatrics

Dr Ryan Moore provides expert general paediatric services. These general paediatric services range from basic care and advice, to the investigation, diagnosis, treatment and management of chronic illnesses, and injuries. These general paediatric services also include:

  • Outpatients and in-patient (hospitalisation) care
  • Newborn attendance - the examination of your newborn at delivery, whether it’s a natural birth or caesarean.
  • Dr Ryan Moore performs comprehensive checks of your baby’s health. These checks include an extensive physical exam- which and the measurement of birth parameters such as weight, length and head circumference. Dr Moore also checks all of your baby’s vital signs such as breathing rate, heart rate, temperature, breathing rate and skin. If your baby is born prematurely (born before 37 weeks), the baby will remain at the hospital, and Dr Moore will care for and treat them in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
  • Growth and developmental screening by monitoring and tracking growth parameters, and performing general health checks, Dr Moore can detect growth problems early on. This gives parents the opportunity to address any issues as soon as possible, ensuring the best outcome for their child. The first routine weight check takes place 1 week after mom and baby are discharged from the hospital. Thereafter, weight checks are done at six weeks, five months, nine months (optional), 12 months, 18 months and possibly yearly thereafter. Dr Ryan Moore will continuously offer parental advice and education.
  • Addressing common concerns in infancy such as poor weight gain and failure to thrive (FTT). The reasons for these issues may include problems with bowel movements, feeding, sleep patterns and skin problems. These concerns are addressed at every visit, and the best treatment and advice is administered. Dr Moore will discuss all your questions and queries about the care and feeding of your newborn.
  • Dermatological issues such as skin infections, eczema, and new-born skin conditions including nappy rash, other rashes acne, and cradle cap.
  • Respiratory conditions and infections, - including, tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, asthma, allergic rhinitis, and croup.
  • Emergency care - Dr Moore offers emergency consults with patients suffering from a high fever, headaches, acute pain, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, difficulty breathing, seizures, severe restlessness or even traumatic injury.
  • The early detection of gastroenterological, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, nephrological or neurological issues. Dr Moore will also refer you to other specialists, if necessary in order to deliver optimal care.
  • HIV care Dr Moore manages infants whose mothers are infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Treatment involves minimizing the risk of vertical transmission of HIV, recognizing neonatal HIV infection early and preventing infections.
